Welcome to the Portland Country Club

Our staff and entire membership want to extend a warm welcome to you upon your visit to the Portland Country Club. Our goal is to ensure an enjoyable and relaxing day at the Club for both you and your host. The below policies are to assist you in planning for your visit and are designed to answer any questions you may have. For any further questions, contact the Main Office at (207) 781-2340.

UPON ARRIVAL

If you are unfamiliar with our Club layout and are meeting your member host here, you will want to get precise directions from him or her as to exactly where you will meet. Directions to the outlying areas (golf pro shop, tennis courts , pool or grounds department) are included in the facility directions on the Contact and Directions page.

Guests are always welcome in the Clubhouse while waiting for your member host. However, guests are welcome inside the dining rooms or bar only when a member is present.

CELL PHONES AND PAGERS

Members and guests wishing to use cell phones are required to use them outside of the Member dining and beverage areas but not on the golf course or practice areas. Modest internet access (web, email or text) is permitted in dining and beverage areas. Members and guests are also required to silence cell phone volume and pager ring tones while in the dining and beverage areas. (Rev. 03/17)

The Board has long struggled with attempting to define what is appropriate for the clubhouse and our dining areas.  The Board of Governors expects member dress to be respectful and of high quality at all times in the Clubhouse.  We recognize that what meets that standard may differ based on the time of day and the season. For example, what may be appropriate when a family comes in for a hot chocolate after a day of sledding is not appropriate for dinner.

In general Country Club Casual is what we seek. This includes men and boys being required to remove their caps in the indoor dining areas.  That which is generally considered comfortable and appropriate for a very high-quality restaurant in town is typically appropriate at the PCC.

RACKET SPORTS DRESS CODE

Tennis shirts, shorts and caps of any color are permitted at the tennis facility. Only sneakers are to be worn on the courts. Tennis sweat suits and sweatshirts are also permitted.

POOL AREA DRESS CODE

All swimwear, shorts, t-shirts and headwear are permitted at the pool and on the pool deck.  Jeans and sweatshirts and sweatpants are allowed. Shirts and footwear are required in the café at all times.

For sanitary reasons, a tight-fitting swim diaper (at waist and thigh) must be worn underneath their swimsuit by children who are less than 4 years of age or are not fully trained. Disposable diapers (e.g. Huggies, combined with rubber, plastic, or vinyl pants) are not acceptable as this combination is proven ineffective and disposable swim diapers contain materials that clog pool filters. Please insure that young children take regular bathroom breaks to ensure that accidents are avoided.

  • Offensive T-shirts
  • Disposable diapers
  • G-string type bathing suits  (Rev. 01/18)
